Who is Nick Troop?

Who indeed? Well, here's a potted history of the highlights.

I was conceived in the Spring after the Summer of Love and arrived with a twin sister (that's me on the right ... or the left) somewhere under this lot . I began writing songs  and discovered there was some magic there . Although I was always very shy I felt the need to perform . But in order to get to London (where the good music was) I did a PhD  at the Institute of Psychiatry where I specialised in the role of stress in the aetiology of eating disorders. While still a psychologist  I set up my own record label called Googlie Mooglie Records  to release my own albums. Most of the reviews for Chemical Jazz and Strange Little Creature were pretty good  so I did some gigs, sometimes with a band called CatDesigners , sometimes on my own . Along the way I got married and had a daughter. I'm currently recording  my 4th album, Zuta Minuta (which is a Serbian phrase meaning "moment of madness" ) but you'll have to check back for that later. It'll be finished soon .

The bit above about the PhD wasn't just showing off. As well as being a musician I am also a psychologist but I abuse my training horribly to explore the psychology of music, in particular things to do with emotions in music and the health benefits of music. For example, I'm writing some pieces on what emotions are influenced by playing the music of your choice and how songwriters use and are influenced by their songwriting. Check out psychomusicology.co.uk to see what I've been up to.
